Thesis Torpor and Dissertation Distress

Torpor = A state of mental and motor inactivity with partial or total insensibility
(Source: Merriam-Webster online dictionary)

Distress = Anxiety or mental suffering

Okay, I know these words are not maybe supposed to be used in this type of context, but for me this makes perfect sense. Even if torpor usually refers to animal hibernation, but wouldn't we all wanna hibernate through winter season...

Like most of you know, I am writing my dissertation at the moment. And don't get me wrong, it's going quite alright actually, I like my topic, it's interesting enough to keep me interested and I like the possibility to concentrate on the dissertation full time. But sometimes there are these days when my brain doesn't want to concentrate full time. Like today, I'm suffering from huge mental and brain motor inactivity.

I found a couple of photos that I took in Paris and they fit in to this post perfectly.

Metro station as empty as my brain.

The empty metro stations are somehow quite spooky. This is why I prefer to stand right next to the emergency button. Just in case.
